The Royal Scottish Motor Yacht Club certainly know how to party, and each year, they throw a big one here in Tarbert. Fifteen to twenty boats arrive on Friday to make the most of what the village has to offer before dancing to a DJ in the marquee on Saturday night, and cruising away again on Sunday.
With the ever increasing numbers of cyclists enjoying the wonders of Argyll, Tarbert has introduced The Kilberry Loop Sportive as one of Scottish Cycling's authorised events. The Sportive will start from the Isthmus Cafe and head north through Tarbert, on the A83 for approximately 8 miles before turning left onto the B8024, a quiet, single track road which has a variety of climbs with spectacular views over the Inner Hebrides, being Jura, Islay and Gigha.
Previous years have seen themes such as "Pirates of the Clyde" from this sociable yacht club. They will return again this year with approximately 20 boats for more crazy games on the recreation area and fun around Tarbert!
This hugely successful event boasts some of the most stunning running routes in the UK, as voted for by Runners World Magazine readers! The 5k offers a scenic flat run around the harbour and along Pier road, while the more strenuous 10K veers off-road on a couple of occasions, allowing sights of the castle and beyond. Participants can then celebrate their victories on the recreation area! There's even a run for the little ones - the Dookers Dash generally takes place the day before. Follow the event on Facebook for updates and details.
